Clifford James Nobles began his singing career as a member of The Delroys in Mobile, Alabama. He later moved to Norristown, Pennsylvania, and formed the group Cliff Nobles & Company. The group signed with Phil-L.A. of Soul Records and their first mega hit was “The Horse” which went gold in August 1968. They later recorded another instrumental hit “Switch It On”. Cliff Nobles & Company would go on to record other instrumentals but were never able to duplicate their success with the likes of “The Horse”.
